Hiring Engineers in a Competitive Market
Summary
Hiring a talented and diverse pool of engineers in a competitive market is no easy task and has only become more complicated as we've moved to a distributed world. In this discussion, we'll talk about ways to identify the right talent, build a productive relationship with your recruiting partners, and how to ensure a positive candidate experience. Time permitting, we may also discuss: evolving interviews to test for the right skillset by role and level, navigating an internal hiring process, and how to close a candidate at offer stage.

Sunil Shah is an Engineering Manager. He most recently led the Compute Infra team at Airbnb which built and maintained the Kubernetes-based platform that powers Airbnb.com. Prior to Airbnb, Sunil managed compute for Yelp, helped commercialise Apache Mesos at Mesosphere, studied robotics at UC Berkeley, and built ingestion pipelines at music recommendations service Last.fm.
When he's not sending emails, Sunil spends his time gardening, swimming, biking and running (slowly) and navigating parenthood with his wife and 10 month old son.
