Summary

As AI tools become embedded across Engineering organizations, from code generation to testing and documentation, aspects of traditional performance assessment (lines of code) are meaningfully changing. In this roundtable, we’ll explore how engineering leaders are evolving their review processes to account for these changes. We’ll discuss what great performance looks like when output is AI-assisted, how to reward impact and automation over effort.

Key questions we’ll explore:

  • Do you attempt to separate individual contribution from AI-assisted output?
  • What new skills or behaviors should be evaluated in AI-fluent engineers?
  • How should managers measure attribution, impact, and potential in this new paradigm?
  • What pitfalls should we avoid when revising performance frameworks for AI-augmented teams?
